Arthur Bispo do Rosario - Brasilianischer Künstler

Bispo do Rosário wurde 1938 in Rio de Janeiro geboren.

This works are from a brazilian artist named Arthur Bispo do Rosario. Rosario was born in 1938 in Rio de Janeiro. At the age of 20 he had a psychiatric disorder and must be interned in a hospital. He lived there at it whole life. Dra. Nise da Silveira, a brazilian psychiatrist, worked there and introduced art classes for the interns. This was his luck.

Bispo do Rosário collected all things on this hospital and made art objects from them. This three wallhangers are totally embroidered. The fabric maybe a curtain or an old linen.

Wenn we talk about assemblage or found object we must remember the stunning work fo this poor artist.

After his returns to Brazil he went to work in the family tiles factory. He has studied painting, but meanwhile he begans to work with clay. Step by step he has built a new factory with his work. It is like a temple with his magic figures, his surrealistic womens and birds and eggs.

The fabric still produces tiles to mantain this big museum of pottery. Some of the pieces are about 2m high.

O nome do artista é Juraci Dórea. O trabalho é comovente, e reflete o entorno do artista. As coisas simples e populares do Nordeste, o grafismo remete a um patchwork.

I received an invitation today from Caixa Econômica de São Paulo, a bank from the brazilian gouvernment. They have many art expositions during the year. And at this time the artist is Juraci Dórea. Juraci was born in Feira de Santana, a city in Bahia. His work has the simbols we can see there. The fishes, the birds, the cactus, the houses there. He began to work with PVA paint with chalk, but today his work is with acrylic. I love it, because it is like a patchwork.

Social art - Ricardo Amadasi

Amadasi is a friend of mine and he is a great artist. Wenn he works, he has always in mind the brazilian people, the poor people of this land. His art is a cry for the bad conditions of this people.

Amadasi was born in Argentina, but he lives and works in Brazil since 1974.

Dumas, is a friend of mine, from Pará State (north of Brazil) who makes a lot of assemblage. He search everyday for old and antique things, even wood cases from the supermarkt and transforms this found objects in art.

He had received many prices for his work.

The Gouvernment of Pará pay for him to make a whole art project about the Ver-o-peso Market in Belém do Pará, which is a popular market there, where you can buy everything, from fish to herbs and beverages. Unfortunatelly I don't have pics of this project, so I can posted only two objects of Dumas.

Artists don't have a good life in Brazil, so Dumas must produce a lot of work to sell because he lives from this money.

colagem, dos objetos achados (found objects).
menos ainda no mundo.

Fez
muitas exposições e recebeu premios, e mesmo assim é pouco conhecido
do grande público.

Farnese de Andrade is a brazilian artist, who mades assemblages. His work is more introspective and melancholic than the work of Josephh Cornell. Both are great assemblage artist, but in my opinion Farnese is more poetic in his work. He was born 1926 in Minas Gerais. 1949 he moved to Rio de Janeiro and he lived there with her mother. The assence of the work of Farnese is about his brother, who died when he was young.
