Michelle Ward Crusade wants some art with stencil. Here I have some journal pages I made, with acrylic underpainting and painting the stencil with acrylic.
I don't like to use the sprays, because the place I work on is too small and i don't like the smell from the spray paint. But I made the same pic with spray.

I'm with you about spraying paint, I can't spray in the house and even outside I'm concerned about flying paint. With small stencils I often use a makeup sponge and some ink. You can fake the spray paint look by shading them in the same way. I hope this is helpful and forgive me if I'm stating the obvious.
