Wednesdaystamper - Doors

This is my entry for Wednesdaystamper.

The door picture I get from a newspaper magazine. I glued the door on cardboard and cuted it out. Than I stamped the sides.

The woman was printed on vellum paper, which I glued on a card with yellow acrylic paint and a self made stamp from a bird.

I stamped the door inside and glued all together over a sheet of watercolor paper.

She doesn't know - Digital collage

Art Journal - How to make one!

Was bedeutet das eigentlich?

Warum kocht man so?

I guess, there are many people, who don't know what an Art Journal is or how to beginn one. It happened to me when I read that word for the first time. What does it means? It's only a diary, but on a creativ way.

Artist almost have a sketchbook beside to sketch all what they see or think, or to draw ideas for new works.

But, what is when a person isn't an artist? How can they make an Art Journal?

I think the best way to begin an Journal is to see the every day life. This can be Restaurants, or what people wear on the streets. We can speak about our sentiments when the weather changes. How I feel in summer and winter.

But, now we will think about Restaurants or Fast Foods. Sometimes we eat japanese or chinese food or hamburgers. How does this food looks? Has this food a special color, or a special way to serve it? Where does it comes from? Who cooks this food? What are they stories? What are the stories from the families, who owns this places?

I think, japanese restaurants have good art ideas. The japanese people have another way to write, they have another way to serve the food. In some places in Japan the food changes through the year. They don't eat the same food in summer, that they eat in winter. And Sushis an sashimis have a great design.

This could be a way to beginn an Art Journal. During two weeks try to "visit" different restaurants. You must not eat there every day, but you can hold prospects, menus, recipes and lay it down on your journal on an "artistic" way. And so you can come to an personal journal.

We must learn to see the every day things in a different way.

You will need only a notebook, some pencils or watercolors, a scissor, glue and the discipline to work on it one hour a day.

For motivation, take a look at the pages from Michelle Ward (Crusades) or Lynne Perrella.
Inspiremethursday has a challenge every week.
And for cardmakers Wednesdaystamper and Daring Card Makers are great.

Inspiremethursday - Copycat

Inspiremethursday
set the challenge to do a art work with any kind of copy. You must copy art.
I decided to do it with a photo. First the photo was copied. In one of the pics I transfered the image in a common way to a sheet of paper. On the other I made a monotypie with collage.
And on the other I cut out the figure of the woman and use it on the monotypie.
If you don't know was a monotypie is, I'll post it later.
Over all I stencilled a motiv.

Inspiremethursday

I'm so glad because I'm the fatured artist this week from "Inspiremethursday".
If you don't know this site, you must meet it. There are many reflections and "challenges" about art there. It's very interesting to make us think about our work.

The link is:

Try it! You will love it!

Assemblage - French Lace

This days I'm working on assemblages. I finished this, but the picture isn't very good.

I called it "French Lace" because the young girl has a beautiful lace dress. Therefore I have the idea to add stuff about dress making, like buttons and ribbons.

Daring Card Makers - Office

The dare from DCM this week is to make a card using something what is used in an office.

I teached German for a long time not in a school, but in the offices from the managers from DaimlerChrysler. My experience of an office are a lot of mens in fancy dresses with a young, smiling secretary. And, of course, the time schedule.

When a had classes we always drunk coffe. I had to many coffes at this time!

The dare is not exactly that was I made, but, I think, it's ok.

Wednesdaystamper - Games

Wednesdaystampers challenge for this week are Games. I made a card on vintage paper, bingo ephemera, stamp it with an ordinary number stamp and a stamps from Michelle Ward. The wors are computer generated and I cut the puzzler piece out.

The vintage paper was a hot pressed paper, and it was difficult to stamp and paint on it.

Freebie - Vintage

This pictures are from a little cute book with pattern to make doll clothes.

It was bought in Barcelona and it's not an original vintage book, it's a copy.

The group - Digital Collage

I made this digital collage some times ago.
It was made on Corel, not on Photoshop.

ATCs Swap

Today I received this cute ATCs from Nadine.
They are lovely and make me very happy.

Daring Card Makers

DCM dares us this week to make a card withour any commercial stuff. I decided not to make a card, but to make the own stenciled paper.

All you must have are some commercial stencils, a tool like that on the photo and colored paper. It must be a paper with 120/180 gr. A little heavy, because we will put many layers of color of this paper.

TOOL: make this tool with a wood stick and some foam on the end (see picture).

I used fabric paint, because acrylic paints dry to fast and sticks on the stencil and on the foam and this is hard to work.

Lay the first stencil over the paper, wet the foam slightly in the paint and slam (!) smoothly with the foam over the stencil.
It's not necessary the film to be homogeneous.

Allow the first paint dry and put a second stencil over the first and do the same.

Make this until you have the desired surface.

You can use different designs of stencils or the same design .

Good luck!

Wednesdaystamper

The Challenge from Wednesdaystamper this week is "Fleur de Lis". This pattern was first used by a French King on the 11th century. It remains to the iris flower, and because of that the german name is "Schwertlilie". There are french, englisch and irish "Fleur de Lis". I made a card and I try to made paper dolls with this stamp. I don't have a "Fleur de Lis" stamp and I do one from a kids rubber.

Digital Collage -

I made this collage, but I'm not very happy with the composition.

And I'll pass the challenge from Wednesdaystamper this week, because I don't know what can I do with the theme Fleur de Lis. It must be something from the middle age. Maybe I have a good idea tomorrow.

I'm working on two assemblages. One of this assemblages is about silk. I brought three silk worms from Parana. The little things were encapsulated and I thought they were dead. But no! They are alive and know I have three silk butterflies in my house, which have not to eat! They eat only mulberry leafes and I don't have this! The park here from São Bernardo doesn't have this tree too. And the 3 little things are dying and now I can not finish the assemblage!

Cheap Tricks - Crusade Nr. 8

Michelle Ward dare us to show our cheap triks to make art. My cheap tricks are the stamps I make by myself. The stamps are on foam, rubber, linoleum and rubber cement (there is a special technique to make rubber stamps from rubber cement, I'll show it on a other day). I think the greatest pleasure is to make the stamps, not to use them. Here are pictures from my stamps and some journal pages with that stamps and my cut outs from newspapers and magazines.

I love to use too the inexpensive paper from newspaper also to print with my printer. This paper has a great texture, very smoth and the color is ok, because it is not so white. It is a little old.

Like many other peoples I love to buy cheap little things, such as buttons, silk flowers and jewelry parts to embelish the collages and assemblages.

Great Exercise

When I read the newspaper or a magazine I always have a scissor near and I cout out all the images and types I find interesting. Sometimes I glued the phrases I found on my journal considering only the form, not the mean. This is a great composition exercise that you could use later for your collage work.

Wednesdaystamper and DCM

I think a made amistake. I've send the same link to both WS and DCM. Sorry.
The Old Boy is for Wednesdaystamper and the Young Blood is for DCM.

Here is a digital collage. Maybe there are too much Photoshop things, but I like it. I don't know if it is finished.

Daring Card Makers

DCM ask us to make a "recipe" card . We must use three things: a stamp, a chipboard and a metal thing.

I use a stamp and a metal dragonfly on my card.

The theme from Wednesdaystamper today is turquoise (?). I can remember when we staied some holllydays in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro. With a boat we made a sightseeing at the bay. The wather was from light turquoise up to a dark blue. Wonderfull! We made a stop at a beach, where we could saw the fishes under the wather. Of course that I had only a normal camera with a black and white film!

I wish a better week

This is not my best week. A lot of things are going wrong this week. I have not a place to work, my whole house are a mess, but I think tomorrow I can reorganize it all and begin to work again.

Neither the photos I took from an assemblage worked well.

I can only post a little photo about the Angels Laundry. It's only a modell.

Card

I made this card today. The background was painted with metallic acrylic. Scraps of paper, the China Stamp and the collage are my own design. I don't like it very much, because it is too dark.

DCM - Beautiful

The Team of Daring Card Makers (Kathy) posted a challenge named "beautiful". Here is my contribution.

In my neighbourdhood is a little store, which sells wood stuff for decoupage. And there I found some clear stamps. They were very cheap and I bought it. When I went home I discovered it was from China . I hate to buy China things, because they have no quality and they copy things from others. But,OK, what ever! The mistake was done.

Then I used this stamp and the wonderful Michelle's stamp.

The girl is beautiful, isn't she?

The Challenge from Wednesdaystamper this week is Egypt. I don't have anything about this theme. But when I looked for a pic, I found this photo from my dad as prisioner from the Americans during the second war. As he tell us, it was a good time, he was not at the front, and he could eat good and also learning something there. Egypt for me are the travels from Paul Klee and Macke, die Second War and the adventure travels from the past.

Angels Laundry

Creativity is a funny thing. This afternoon I wanted to make legs and arms for a paper doll. I drew it on a piece of cardboard and cuted it out. Then I take a piece of wire to make an embellishment for the dolls. But I made a hanger. As I see the piece I thought: what can we hang on a hanger?
So, the piece was done. It is only 1 inch (about 3 cm) width. It's cute, isn't it?
